ARTogether is an Oakland-based nonprofit organization that was created to provide a safe space for refugees to heal, build friendships, and express themselves through art activities and social gatherings. In just a year, our community of members and supporters has grown to over 1,500 people and counting. Apply to volunteer and join our growing community today!

Social Media Coordinator

ARTogether is seeking an enthusiastic social media volunteer to join its team! We use social media to engage with the public via Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Linkedin for both our Oakland, USA and Zurich, Switzerland chapters. The goal of the social media department is to share news and events from our organization with the online community and increase our engagement and followers.

Responsibilities

  • Log into and update ARTogether’s various social media platforms with news, events, photos, etc.

  • Research relevant content to be shared with followers

  • Engage with comments, messages, and questions from followers

  • Brainstorm new ways to increase social media engagement

Requirements

  • Make daily posts to social media

  • Have regular internet and computer access, and respond to emails in a timely fashion

Qualifications

  • Must be over the age of 18

  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook

  • Familiarity with the Google suite

  • Strong writing skills with an ability to compose engaging and grammatically correct messages independently

Commitment

We request a minimum commitment of 10 to 12 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible.

Photographer/Videographer

ARTogether is seeking a photographer/videographer who is an enthusiastic and passionate storyteller. The ideal candidate has experience in the use of journalistic principles, exercises sound editorial judgment, and recognizes viable story ideas to create promotional videos and photos series.  This position will provide excellent training for students considering a future in art, community organizing, and non-profit management.

Responsibilities

  • Create videos and photos series for social media and events

  • Craft compelling stories using visual design

Requirements

  • Solid time management with an ability to meet deadlines

  • Regular internet and computer access, and respond to emails in a timely fashion

  • Located in the San Francisco Bay Area

Qualifications

  • Must be over the age of 18

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Seasoned story teller

  • Proven photography and/or videography experience

  • Holds a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content though suitable design

  • Able to work independently and with minimum supervision

  • Passionate about organizing, community building, refugee issues, design, and art

Outreach Specialist

ARTogether is seeking an enthusiastic outreach specialist intern. The primary function of this position will be outreach networking and related marketing functions. The internship will provide excellent training for students considering a future in community organizing, and non-profit management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information and market ARTogether programs and services to individual artists or art organizations as well as immigrant and refugee service agencies

  • Prepare and give presentations to potential program partners

  • Thoroughly understand and explain requirement and compliance expectations for program participation and partners

  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools for evaluating and improving participation, partner artists, and organizations

  • Excellent presentation skills are key components to the success of this position

Marketing Specialist

ARTogether is seeking an enthusiastic Marketing Specialist intern to carefully design, create, and deliver marketing campaigns to support our growth and expansion. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of digital platforms, Google analytics, SEO and best practices for content across our newsletter and social media platforms. The internship will provide excellent training for students or early-career professionals considering a future in marketing, fundraising, community organizing, and non-profit management.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and developing marketing campaigns

  • Conducting research and analysing data to identify and define audiences

  • Devising and presenting ideas and strategies

  • Executing promotional activities

  • Compiling and distributing financial and statistical information

  • Writing and proofreading creative copy

  • Organising events and product exhibitions

  • Managing campaigns on social media

ARTogether is seeking an enthusiastic graphic designer to join its team! This individual should have exceptional design, writing, and communication skills to track and execute design projects. The internship will provide excellent training for students considering a future in art, community organizing, and non-profit management.

Fundraiser

ARTogether is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to organize fundraising activities. This position will work to create awareness of our programs and goals, and inspire donors to make contributions that will satisfy our financial needs. In addition, this position will require design and production of promotional materials.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and build relationships with potential donors

  • Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals

  • Develop strategies to encourage new or increased contributions

  • Recruit sponsors, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events

  • Secure commitments of participation or donation from individuals or corporate donors

  • Prepare materials for charitable events, such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags

  • Establish fundraising or participation goals for special events or specified time periods

  • Create or update donor databases

  • Contact corporate representatives, government officials, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities, or needs

  • Direct or coordinate web-based fundraising activities, such as online auctions or donation websites
