We had a busy February. Our Digital Storytelling Program at Oakland International High School has begun and on February 14th, ARtogether hosted a wildly successful couples painting and dance night at Headstart in Concord!
We expect 2019 will be abundant in connection, community, and creative art expression. Amazing projects are already in the works and we thank all of you for your support. Your efforts as volunteers, artists, ambassadors, and donors make it possible for us to carry out our mission each and every day. Thank you!
January Newsletter: 2018 Annual Report
2018 was a year of unprecedented growth for ARTogether and we couldn’t have done it without your support. We are happy to share our accomplishments, milestones, and goals for the coming year with you. Please see our 2018 annual report here.
In this season of gratitude and giving, we are so thankful for you and our amazing community. Your support has allowed for our expansion and creative reach to extend further than we had ever hoped! Thank you for continuing to spread the word and for championing our cause.
Our New Video!
In 2018, only 21,000 refugees will be admitted into the United States. This is a decrease of more than 65% from last year, when we still didn’t do nearly enough. Today, there are more than 25 million refugees worldwide, more than ever before. With the civil war in Syria, the bombardment of Yemen, Rohingya fleeing genocide, and countless other tragedies forcing millions from their homes, we need to do more. And we aren’t.
We are excited to announce the launch of our new merchandise shop!
Starting this week, you may choose from our new art collections by three of our artists: “Kitchen Craft,” “Handmade Embroidered Jewelry Collection” and “The Trapped: A Photo Series.” We’re proud to say that each of our art pieces is unique, high-quality and locally made by artists of color. Now and always, when you purchase art from ARTogether’s online art shop all proceeds go directly towards supporting our artists and our community-building art programs.
What you read is part of a message we received after our first craft workshop with our newest partner in Concord. On October 9th, we took our colorful fall leaves to Head Start Preschool. We created 25 beaut natural wreaths in ARTogether workshops led by Isobel and Amanda. While the beauty and aroma of these wreaths was incredible, what struck me most was the conversation and laughter we experienced during the workshops. I was surprised to find….
Join ARTogether for an art exhibition and stay for the reception!
We would like to invite you and your friends to a very special exhibition displaying works of art from our workshop participants and photos from our ARTogether workshops and events!
Our First Year Anniversary!
Today marks the one year anniversary of ARTogether's first public event! A year ago today, we met with a group of refugees and immigrants for our first art workshop, where we explored the concepts of "leaving home" and "finding home."
We have come a long way since then. We have now hosted over 70 workshops, and are officially a registered non-profit with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
I am pleased to write here in ARTogether’s first newsletter. We hope to continue these as quarterly newsletters to report our achievements in the previous quarter and announce upcoming events.
Since this is our first newsletter, I wanted to use this opportunity to say a few words about how ARTogether was founded and what our targets are…
